And here’s a look at the progress in Photoshop.

And for the colour scheme I went with the following reference.

And the background was totally based on the Pantheon in Rome where my wife and I went a while back.

Ascending to Blasphemy

And uh… it works from which ever angle….

Here’s some earlier stages…

I actually wanted to keep it black and white like a Visoth Kakvei image I was inspired by but it wasn’t working. It would have been a reversed light scheme (as the ascending Renaissance paintings I was also riffing off called for) but the foreground elements were getting hidden. Had to add colour and therefor scope… BAH.. but it was worth it.

First painting of the year.

Just put together some clips of animations I did for The Fall Part 2: Unbound. It was rad working with John Warner at Over The Moon Games and the rest of the awesome dev team. Also, thanks Cam Jarvis for for a lot of great VFX and music!

Steve Buscemi

Did a study of Steve Buscemi with some inks and copic markers. One of my favorite actors. He was awesome in Fargo…

“Two can play at that game, smart guy. We’ll just see how you like it. Total silence.”

Also, I never knew he used to be a fire fighter in downtown Manhattan in the 80s. “Once one of New York’s Bravest.” He left the service to become an actor. But after 911 he actually returned to his old job where he worked 12-hour shifts for several days alongside other firefighters, searching for survivors in the rubble of the World Trade Center.

Great guy.
